So next time you find yourself presented with rewards and sky-high praises, spare a thought as to whether it is helping the child in your neighbourhood to be motivated by you or giving joy to countless other unknown faces...

Brain and Heart!!
Most of our lives are spent in gaining material knowledge. We have a plethora of options for what courses we have to do, what academics should get reflected in our resume etc. Most of us go on to be recognised as intellectual geniuses. But not once do we spare a thought towards developing our thoughts, our passions and the cause we sympathise. We never ponder over whether our hearts are tuned to the work we do using our brains. We go on getting recognised by various sections of society and praised for our work, but we never realise that we are not what we were. We feel compliant in the limelight of glory and conveniently forget that there was or is a life beyond that - a life replete with fun, laughter, flowers, rivers, honesty, even the smile of a child. We forget our actions are supposed to be directed for the betterment of humanity, not only self-glory.

Its the right time that matters!!
In my case I have discovered one thing -- for anything I do or wish to do, the right moment has to arrive. Its sheer stupidity to wonder "why did I not think of it before?"...So this seems to be the moment when I start rewriting my blog with a long siesta...I wish myself luck!!

Politicians in US and India
Problems befall on everyone, be it an individual or a nation. What an individual needs then is honest, heartfelt support. What a nation needs is unity. America is going through a terrible financial crisis and enduring wanton mudslinging on its capitalism. Barack Obama has won the election and it goes on to see if he can rescue his nation from this mess.
Both factions in America, Republican and Democratic, have their own pros and cons in their policies and ideology. During the Presidential campaign they went on criticising the other on one issue or another. But once the elections got over, and results declared, both factions rallied behind the winning candidate and pledged full support for him. Republican candidate John McCain was booed when he commended Barack Obama, but he was relentless in his support. This shows courage and infuses unity among the people. The politicians and public alike know that the crisis is neither Democratic nor Republican, its an American crisis. And all its leaders stand tall, weathering the crisis like mountains protecting the beleaguered people.
Contrast this with Indian politicians. The inuendoes don't stop even after the election results are declared. On every issue the parties spend time passing the buck on someone else, instead of even spending a moment thinking of their contribution in resolving the issue. Their is no national leader in sight on whose shoulders the responsibility of the nation can be entrusted upon. Neither the politicians care, nor the people, they are just compliant with what they get.
It is time India awakens and looks out of its bedroom window at the glowing sun shining not in the East, but in the West : Barack Obama. It could then go on to take some lessons in leadership.

Destination moon
Chandrayan I was launched successfully today and India took the first step towards an indigenous moon exploration. I felt elated when I saw the confident faces of our esteemed scientists after the success. After investing 10 years of their lives, when elsewhere they could have lived a more luxurious and quiet family life, these scientists have showed that they can attain the skies. I felt their risk taking and pressure handling ability was extremely courageous and an example for everyone. Any failure would have resulted in a loss of crores of rupees, in the background of a global economic slowdown. Their dedication towards their work is extremely praiseworthy and they will surely be the architects of a technologically developed India in the future.
Kudos to the ISRO scientists!!!

The written word..
Today I was writing an exam when this thought crossed my mind. It was a completely theory paper and, based on the requirements of our university, I had to write as lengthy an answer as possible. I wondered what is the value of a written word, at least in education? We are in a system where the more we write, the more we are considered an intellectual.
I have an interest in journalism and love to read articles. That time too I wonder whether the meaning derived from that article is proportionate with the number of words. Some articles go on and on, and the meaning derived from them is really minuscle. However that minnow proves very useful in future.
I can write an essay on this. But I feel I have conveyed what I wanted to say in this little blog. Probably you should strike the bulls eye when the next time you pick up the pen to write, instead of pushing the reader into a maze of words....
